Kenro Capital Launches to Address $100B Secondary Market Opportunity* in India and Southeast Asia

Date: November 28, 2024

November 28, 2024, Singapore/Mumbai: Kenro Capital, the first investment firm dedicated to growth secondaries in India and Southeast Asia's (SEA) venture ecosystem, announced its launch today. The firm aims to address the growing need for liquidity solutions in the region's maturing venture capital market, estimated at over $100 billion and growing at more than 25% annually*.

Kenro Capital will target minority stakes in growth companies across various sectors that have achieved revenue scale, are profitable or are near profitability, and have other critical attributes that give them the potential of a public listing in 2 to 3 years after its investment.

The firm plans to deploy $20-30 million per investment, with flexibility for larger amounts through co-investment opportunities.

Kenro Capital is founded by industry veteran Piyush Gupta, former Head of Strategic Development at Peak XV (formerly Sequoia India) and with seventeen years of technology investment banking experience at Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank, where he served as Head of Asia for Technology Media and Telecom verticals.

“We are bridging a critical gap in the market to provide liquidity solutions to stakeholders. With impressive growth in venture capital in India and Southeast Asia over the past 15 years, VCs are focused on increasing the pace of distributions to their limited partners and that’s where Kenro Capital will play a key role," says Piyush Gupta, Founder and Managing Partner of Kenro Capital.

He is joined by Partner, Norbert Fernandes, another seasoned India private equity professional with over seventeen years of investing experience across Temasek, IvyCap Ventures and TR Capital. He is a pioneer in India's secondaries market and is a founder member of the IVCA Secondaries Special Interest Group.
